AQHYA Ambassador - One of the jobs of being an AQHYA Director is sometimes going to events as an AQHYA Ambassador, and that is just what AQHYA Secretary & Region 6 Director, Jocelyn Tanner recently did to finish off her winter break from St. Andrew Presbyterian College. Jocelyn joined AQHYA Region 4 Director, Darian Renner, and Ward Stutz, AQHA Director of Youth Programs and Education, to head west for the Western National 4-H Round UP in Denver, Colorado to represent AQHYA for a fun filled weekend and education!! They spent 5 days attending the conference, site seeing, visiting the Rocky Mountain Quarter Horse Association Head Quarters, and watching the Western Stock show that was going on. The even had the pleasure of watching Region 8 Director Edwin Gaffney present his public speech for 4-H. Jocelyn was invited to be the MC of the Saturday evening event, and if you know Jocelyn she is not shy when you give her a microphone!!! I hear congratulations are in order for Jocelyn on a job well done!!!

Youth Excellence Seminar & AQHYA Convention, Amarillo, TX June 24th - 27th 2010 -
Hello Region 6 - Hope everyone is having a wonderful winter! Though snow is on the ground summer is just around the corner and what better way to kick off your summer by attending the YES conference in Amarillo. Every years 100's of youth from across the country come together for an AWESOME leadership conference & AQHYA Convention. Educational & Fun workshops are offered along with fun activities, shopping and lots of networking. The AQHYA conventions is were each states delegates are asked to vote for their Regional Directors and AQHYA Officers. Your vote does count!! You DON'T have to be a delegate to attend the conference, just to vote. This conference has been one of the most life changing experiences for me and the forever lasting friendships that have been made are countless. So please plan to attend the YES Conference & AQHYA Convention in June!!! For more information on how to attend or even run for an office of Region 6 please contact me or anyone of your Region 6 Youth Directors. Watch for coming details here or on the AQHA web site.

Jocelyn Tanner - AQHYA Secretary & Region 6 Director
Hello, My name is Jocelyn Tanner, I am from Webster NH. I am one of YOUR Region 6 Directors and currently serving my second term as AQHYA National Secretary. I have been active in AQHYA for about 10 years and active many State Affiliates. It seems like just yesterday that I attended my first Youth Excellence Seminar and set my goal to become a director because of what AQHYA had to offer the youth of Region 6. My first trip to Amarillo, was just amazing, and I wanted to come back and share my excitement with everyone. With Region 6 being such a small Region, I knew we could be come united and work together as one big group, and we are on the right track. We don't just have a few youth attending the YES conference each year, we are one of the biggest Regions represented. A far cry from the 4 of us back in 2003. And I am excited to be a part of that accomplishment. We currently have a facebook page, facebook group, web page and the Region 6 Newsletter is underway. Please know that I am your voice to AQHYA and I am here for you. Goals that I share with you as a Region 6 Director would be to have another Region 6 Conference, to continue to unite as a Region, help build the Region 6 Championship Show Team Tournament and I would like to have Regional activities through out the year. Again, I am so excited to your Region 6 director, please feel free to contact me at any time with your ideas, questions and concerns. I look forward to serving for you once again!!
Kayleigh McDonnell - Region 6 Director
Hello, I'm Kayleigh McDonnell and I am one of the current Region 6 Youth Directors. I am 16 years old and live in Rutland, Vermont with my mom, Kim, two brothers, Eric and Aiden, and French Bulldog, Kea. I have been involved with AQHYA for as long as I can remember and have always owned American Quarter Horses. I am the current president of VTQHYA and have held many other offices in my years past. I am also actively involved in 4-H, have represented Vermont at the Easter States Expo, and am the secretary of my club. I enjoy showing and riding my two great Quarter Horses, Cops Comet and Captive Bees. When I'm not at the barn you can find me hanging out with my friends and spending time outside with my family. In my second term as Regional Director I am going to work hard to fulfill the goals set by Region 6 Youth at the Youth Excellence Seminar, one of those goals being to improve communication within the region. I am striving to make this year as productive and fun as possible. I am looking forward to working with my fellow Regional Directors and the youth in this great region. I am always open to suggestions and comments from youth on how to make the region better for all. Feel free to contact me at any time, and I am looking forward to working with all of you again this year!:-)
Leah Thomas - Region 6 Director
My name is Leah Thomas, and I am from Pomfret, Vermont. I am one of your newly elected Region Six directors. I am also currently secretary of the Vermont Quarter Horse Youth Association and I run and manage the youth web site as well. Although I have been involved with horses for many years, I don't want to bore your with what I've done and what experiences I've had. Having gone to the YES Conference in Amarillo, Texas, I have, as do Jocelyn and Kayleigh, many new ideas and leadership skills that will allow to better unite Region Six and to have better communication throughout. One of our main goals this year is to increase the communication between states in the region while bringing the youth and affiliates closer together. I am really excited to be able to be a part of the Region Six directors and am looking forward to helping to reach our goal. One of my main concerns is that your voice is heard and that your opinions have value, so feel free to contact me, either through email of phone, or contact any of the other directors, so that we may hear ideas, comments, or questions. Hopefully many of you by now have received and enjoyed your Region 6 Newsletter. Thanks and have a wonderful day.
